STATEMENT
This bill would provide that whenever a child enrolled in a licensed child care center will be absent from the center, the child's parent or guardian is to notify the director of the center or the director's designee. If a child is determined to be absent from a licensed child care center, and if the reason for the child's absence is unknown to staff members at the center, the director of the center or the director's designee would immediately attempt to contact the child's parent or guardian to notify the parent or guardian of the absence and to determine the reason for the absence. A record of all notices of absences, and all attempts to contact a child's parent or guardian in the event of an absence without prior notice, would be kept by the director of the center, or the director's designee.
This bill is intended to prevent young children from inadvertently being left on buses or in cars when being transported to a licensed child care center.
