An Act requiring public employers to provide employee with an annual written statement of all remuneration paid to, or on behalf of, employee and supplementing Title 34 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Every public employer in this State shall provide each of its employees, not later than January 31 of each year, with an annual written statement of all remuneration paid to, or on behalf of, that employee by that public employer during the immediately preceding calendar year.
As used in this section,
"public employer" means the State of New Jersey, or the counties and municipalities thereof, or any other political subdivision of the State, or a school district, or any special district, any public institution of higher education, or any authority, including a bi-state authority, or any commission, board, or any branch or agency of the public service; and
"remuneration" means any cost to a public employer paid, in whole or in part, to, or on behalf of, an employee of that public employer, including but not limited to, compensation, health care benefits, including prescription, dental, and vision care benefits, pension contributions, life insurance benefits, employer's contributions to Social Security and Medicare, training and education and apprenticeship benefits, bonuses or awards, unemployment compensation, workers' compensation or temporary disability benefits, or any other compensation or benefit whatsoever that the public employer has made or is required to pay by law or contract.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires every public employer in this State to provide to each of its employees, not later than January 31 of each year, an annual written statement of all remuneration paid to, or on behalf of, that employee by that public employer during the immediately preceding calendar year. Remuneration includes, but is not limited to, compensation, health care benefits, including prescription, dental, and vision care benefits, pension contributions, life insurance benefits, employer's contributions to Social Security and Medicare, training and education and apprenticeship benefits, bonuses or awards, unemployment compensation, workers' compensation or temporary disability benefits, or any other compensation or benefit whatsoever that the public employer has made or is required to pay by law or contract.
