SYNOPSIS
Establishes three-year moratorium on increases in charter school enrollment.

An Act concerning charter school enrollment and supplementing P.L.1995, c.426 (C.18A:36A-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. For a period of three years beginning with the start of the 2015-2016 school year, the Commissioner of Education shall not approve any increase in the number of spaces available for student enrollment in a charter school beyond the maximum enrollment number that was approved by the commissioner in the school's initial application for a charter or an amendment to the charter approved prior to the effective date of this act.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that for a three-year period beginning with the start of the 2015-2016 school year, the Commissioner of Education will not approve any increase in the number of spaces available for student enrollment in a charter school beyond the maximum enrollment number that was approved by the commissioner in either the school's initial charter application or an amendment to the school's charter that was approved prior to the bill's effective date.
