SYNOPSIS
Expresses support for "US Citizenship Act."

A Concurrent Resolution expressing support for the United Sates Citizenship Act.
Whereas, The federal "United States Citizenship Act" establishes a new system to responsibly manage and secure our border, keep our families and communities safe, and better manage migration across the hemisphere; and
Whereas, The legislation modernizes our immigration system and prioritizes keeping families together, growing the United States economy, responsibly managing the border, addressing the root causes of migration from Central America, and ensuring that the United States remains a refuge for those fleeing persecution; and
Whereas, Specifically, the "United States Citizenship Act" creates an earned roadmap to citizenship for undocumented individuals, keeps families together by reforming the family-based immigration system, embraces diversity by prohibiting discrimination based on religion, promotes immigrant and refugee integration and citizenship, grows the economy, and protects workers from exploitation; and
Whereas, The act also prioritizes smart border control by supplementing existing border resources with technology and infrastructure, managing the border and protecting border communities, and enhancing the ability to prosecute criminal organizations; and
Whereas, Finally, the act addresses the underlying causes of migration, improves the immigration court and protects vulnerable individuals, and supports asylum seekers and other vulnerable populations; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey (the General Assembly concurring):
1. This Legislature supports the enactment of the federal "United States Citizenship Act," which modernizes the immigration system in the United States.
2. Copies of this resolution, as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the Clerk of the General Assembly or the Secretary of the Senate to the President and Vice-President of the United States, the Majority and Minority Leaders of the United States Senate, the Speaker and Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, and every member of Congress elected from the State of New Jersey.
STATEMENT
This concurrent resolution expresses support for the federal "United States Citizenship Act," which modernizes the immigration system in the United States.
The "United States Citizenship Act" creates an earned roadmap to citizenship for undocumented individuals, keeps families together by reforming the family-based immigration system, embraces diversity by prohibiting discrimination based on religion, promotes immigrant and refugee integration and citizenship, grows the economy, and protects workers from exploitation.
The act also prioritizes smart border control by supplementing existing border resources with technology and infrastructure, managing the border and protecting border communities, and enhancing the ability to prosecute criminal organizations.
