SYNOPSIS

     Designates May 15 through 21, 2011, as "Emergency Medical Services Week."

A Concurrent Resolution designating May 1[16 through 22, 2010] 15 through 21, 20111, as "Emergency Medical Services Week."

 

Whereas, The emergency medical services professionals of New Jersey unselfishly give their time and effort to travel significant distances in order to provide medical assistance and often risk their lives to aid people in need; and

Whereas, Immediate emergency medical response and access to quality medical care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of persons who experience sudden illness or injury; and

Whereas, Emergency medical services professionals, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their skills; and

Whereas, Residents of the State of New Jersey take solace in the knowledge that, should a medical emergency arise, well-trained professionals are available to render efficient and effective assistance; and

Whereas, The difficult tasks undertaken by emergency medical services professionals dramatically improve the overall health and well-being of the citizens of the State of New Jersey; and

Whereas, It is, therefore, fitting and proper to recognize the value and accomplishments of emergency medical services professionals as well as their integral role in emergency response; now, therefore,

 

     Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey (the General Assembly concurring):

 

     1.    The week of May 1[16 through 22, 2010] 15 through 21, 20111, is designated as "Emergency Medical Services Week" to commend all emergency medical services professionals in New Jersey for their tireless efforts and services to the State.

 

     2.    The Governor is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon public officials and the citizens of this State to observe "Emergency Medical Services Week" with appropriate activities and programs.

 

     3.    Duly authenticated copies, signed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the General Assembly shall be transmitted to the Governor.
