SYNOPSIS
Amends Senate Rules to permit withdrawing of certain bills and resolutions; provides 100 bill limit for prefiling.

A Senate Resolution amending Senate Rule 17:9 to permit withdrawing of certain bills and resolutions and adding Rule 16:13.
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey:
1. Senate Rule 17:9 is amended to read as follows:
17:9. Withdraw a Bill or Resolution. [No] Except as provided for in this rule, no Senate bill or resolution may be withdrawn from the files of the Senate except on motion of the sponsor, co-prime sponsors or first co-prime sponsor, acting under Rule 16:2. The motion must be made and adopted prior to the bill or resolution being moved on third reading. The Office of Legislative Services may withdraw from the files of the Senate any prefiled bill or resolution that became law or was filed with the Secretary of State in the immediate prior legislative session.
2. Rule 16:13 is added as follows:
16:13. (New) Number of Bills or Resolutions a Senator May Prefile.
No Senator or Senator-elect may prefile as first prime sponsor a total number of more than 100 bills or resolutions.
3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This resolution amends Senate Rule 17:9 to permit the Office of Legislative Services to administratively withdraw any prefiled bill or resolution that became law or was filed with the Secretary of State in the prior legislative session. The resolution also adds a new Rule 16:13 to provide that the limit for prefiled bills or resolutions is 100.
