       AN  ACT  to amend the public officers law, in relation to peace officers
         employed by Cornell  University;  and  to  repeal  subdivision  59  of
         section 3 of such law relating thereto
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivision 59 of section 3 of the public officers law,  as
    2  added by chapter 499 of the laws of 2012, is REPEALED.
    3    S 2. Section 3-b of the public officers law is amended by adding a new
    4  subdivision 5 to read as follows:
    5    5.  IN  RESPECT  TO PEACE OFFICERS EMPLOYED BY CORNELL UNIVERSITY, AND
    6  ASSIGNED TO THE ITHACA CAMPUS, PURSUANT TO SECTION  FIFTY-SEVEN  HUNDRED
    7  NINE  OF  THE  EDUCATION LAW, THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION REQUIRING A
    8  PERSON TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE SAME COUNTY AS  THE  APPOINTING  OFFICIAL
    9  SHALL  NOT  PREVENT A PERSON FROM SERVING AS A PEACE OFFICER FOR CORNELL
   10  UNIVERSITY, OR AS A SPECIAL DEPUTY SHERIFF, AND ASSIGNED TO  THE  ITHACA
   11  CAMPUS, AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION FORTY-TWO OF SECTION 2.10 OF THE CRIM-
   12  INAL  PROCEDURE  LAW,  PROVIDED THAT SUCH PERSON RESIDES IN THE STATE OF
   13  NEW YORK.
   14    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
