THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Real Property Taxation -- recommitted to the Committee on Real Property Taxation in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- reported and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means -- reported and referred to the Committee on Rules -- ordered to a third reading, passed by Assembly and delivered to the Senate, recalled from the Senate, vote reconsidered, bill amended, ordered reprinted, retaining its place on the special order of third reading AN ACT in relation to the eligibility of enrolled members of the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad for a tax exemption on real property The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the 2 enrolled members of East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary 3 Squad shall be eligible for the tax exemption on real property author- 4 ized by section 466-a of the real property tax law, as added by chapter 5 670 of the laws of 2022, provided that: (a) the town board of the town 6 of East Hampton has designated such squad as an emergency rescue and 7 first aid squad, as authorized by chapter 147 of the laws of 2020; and 8 (b) the governing body of any village, town, county or school district 9 within the town, after a public hearing, adopts a local law, ordinance, 10 or resolution providing for such tax exemption. 11 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- 12 ing the date on which it shall have become a law and shall apply to 13 taxable status dates occurring on or after such date.
