BRENNAN, ROBINSON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring that a center for palliative care be established in every borough of New York city THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 2807-n of the public health law, 2 as added by section 63-f of part C of chapter 58 of the laws of 2007, is 3 amended to read as follows: 4 4. Centers for palliative care excellence. The commissioner shall 5 designate organizations licensed pursuant to this article and article 6 forty of this chapter, upon successful application, as centers for 7 palliative care excellence. Such designations shall be pursuant to an 8 application as designed by the department, and based on service, staff- 9 ing and other criteria as developed by the council. Such centers of 10 excellence shall provide specialized palliative care, treatment, educa- 11 tion and related services. A CENTER OF PALLIATIVE CARE EXCELLENCE SHALL 12 BE ESTABLISHED IN EACH OF THE FIVE BOROUGHS OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK. 13 Designation as a center for palliative care excellence shall not entitle 14 a center to enhanced reimbursement, but may be utilized in outreach and 15 other promotional activities. 16 S 2.
