HYNDMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Health -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- again reported from said committee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to direct the New York state department of health to conduct a study on the incidences of asthma in cities and towns having a popu- lation of more than ninety thousand The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The commissioner of the New York state department of health 2 is hereby authorized and directed to prepare or have prepared a study of 3 the incidences of asthma in all cities and towns having a population of 4 more than ninety thousand inhabitants as determined by the last federal 5 decennial census. Such study shall include an analysis of high risk 6 neighborhoods examining disparities in: income, race and ethnicity, 7 public and private housing, proximity to major sources of air pollution 8 and an evaluation of the effectiveness of existing medical facilities in 9 each city. The study shall include recommendations for evidence-based 10 interventions to address the high burden of asthma in each city and town 11 included in the study. 12 § 2. The study shall be completed and posted on the department of 13 health's website by September thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. 14 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
