STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 3104--A 2015-2016 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY January 22, 2015 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. JOHNS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation -- recommitted to the Committee on Transportation in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating certain portions of the state highway system in the counties of Monroe and Tioga The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-e. Portion of the state highway system in the counties of Monroe 4 and Tioga to be memorialized. Certain portions of the state highway 5 system in the counties of Monroe and Tioga are memorialized as follows 6 with signage: 7 1. At state route three hundred eighty-three at 21 Caledonia Avenue in 8 the village of Scottsville, county of Monroe there shall be a memorial 9 sign that reads "Deputy Simon J. Bermingham Memorial Site"; 10 2. At state route sixty-five, known as Clover Street, near the inter- 11 section with Highland Avenue, in the town of Brighton, county of Monroe 12 there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Special Deputy Joseph G. Munz 13 Memorial Site"; 14 3. At state route three hundred eighty-three near the Scottsville 15 Village line in the county of Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that 16 reads "Deputy William Marshall Memorial Site"; 17 4. At state route three hundred eighty-three at the Black Creek Hotel 18 in the county of Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Depu- 19 ty James I. Conheady Memorial Site"; 20 5. At the intersection of state route three hundred eighty-three and 21 state route two hundred fifty-two in the town of Chili in the county of EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD04430-03-6A. 3104--A 2 1 Monroe there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Deputy John A. Pullano 2 Memorial Site"; 3 6. Westbound on state route seventeen in the town of Owego in the 4 county of Tioga there shall be a memorial sign that reads "Undersheriff 5 George A. Conway Memorial Site"; 6 7. On state route three hundred eighty-three near North Road near the 7 village of Scottsville town line in the county of Monroe there shall be 8 a memorial sign that reads "Deputy Frank Dombrowski Memorial Site"; and 9 8. On state route sixty-five southbound, south of state route two 10 hundred fifty-two approximately two hundred feet north of the entrance 11 to the Tobey Village Office Park in the county of Monroe there shall be 12 a memorial sign that reads "Sergeant Robert M. Skelton Jr. Memorial 13 Site". 14 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 15 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 16 as memorialized pursuant to section one of this act; provided that, to 17 avoid any confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, 18 the memorialization called for pursuant to section one of this act shall 19 be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such place or high- 20 way shall not be changed as a result of this act. 21 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
