          tee on Higher Education

        AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to transferring credits
          from a CUNY community college to a New York state university

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  Section  6303 of the education law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 3-a to read as follows:
     3    3-a. City university of New York community college curricula shall  be
     4  designed  to  enable  students  the ability to transfer credits for such
     5  curricula to a state university.  Such  transferable  credits  shall  be
     6  accepted  by a state university or accepted as an equivalent credit to a
     7  course provided by such university.
     8    § 2. The education law is amended by adding a  new  section  208-b  to
     9  read as follows:
    10    §  208-b.  City  university of New York community college credentials;
    11  transfers. The state university shall collaborate with the city  univer-
    12  sity  of  New  York  trustees to ensure students the ability to transfer
    13  curricula credits from a city university of New York  community  college
    14  to a state university.  Such transferable credits shall be accepted by a
    15  state  university  or  accepted  as  an  equivalent  credit  to a course
    16  provided by such university.
    17    § 3. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    18  have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or
    19  repeal  of  any  rule  or regulation necessary for the implementation of
    20  this act on its effective date are authorized to be made  and  completed
    21  on or before such effective date.
