STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 3922--A 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY January 30, 2017 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CROUCH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in the town of Hancock, county of Delaware as the "David H. Newman Sr. Memorial Bridge" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-ddd 2 to read as follows: 3 § 342-ddd. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "David H. Newman Sr. Memorial Bridge". The bridge on state route nine- 5 ty-seven, designated New York state bridge number 1035460, in the town 6 of Hancock, county of Delaware, shall be designated and known as the 7 "David H. Newman Sr. Memorial Bridge". 8 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 9 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 10 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 11 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 12 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 13 ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be 14 changed as a result of this act. 15 § 3.
