        AN ACT to amend the  environmental  conservation  law,  in  relation  to
          prohibiting  the  installation  or  replacement  of  synthetic turf at
          outdoor athletic fields or outdoor athletic facilities owned or  oper-
          ated by municipalities or school districts

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The environmental conservation law is amended by  adding  a
     2  new section 37-0122 to read as follows:
     3  § 37-0122. Synthetic turf; prohibited.
     4    1.  After January first, two thousand twenty-six, synthetic turf shall
     5  not be used in the  installation  or  replacement  of  outdoor  athletic
     6  fields  or  outdoor  athletic  facilities  owned  or operated by munici-
     7  palities or school districts in the state.
     8    2. For the purposes of this section, "synthetic turf" means any  mate-
     9  rials  or  compositions  that  are historically used in place of natural
    10  grass.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
