STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4134 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 1, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. RA, McDONOUGH, CROUCH, RAIA, ARROYO, VANEL, MONTESANO, D'URSO, GIGLIO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to require the commissioner of education to create a state-wide competition among SUNY and CUNY schools with prizes going to the schools that produce the most cost-efficient method of reducing CO2 emissions The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The commissioner of education shall create and sponsor a 2 state-wide competition among teams of students who attend the state 3 university of New York or the city university of New York designed to 4 challenge and inspire the states' brightest and most inventive college 5 students to produce the most cost-efficient method of reducing CO2 emis- 6 sions. The awards for the teams competing in the competition: 7 First Place: $100,000 to the winning university with an agreement that 8 the award be used to improve environmental programs at the university. 9 Second Place: $50,000 for the university with an agreement that the 10 award be used to improve environmental programs at the university. 11 Third Place: $10,000 for the university with an agreement that the 12 award be used to improve environmental programs at the university. 13 § 2.
