        AN ACT to amend the multiple dwelling law, the  multiple  residence  law
          and  the  executive  law,  in  relation  to requiring renewable energy
          devices to be installed in all new multi-family  homes  and  apartment
          buildings
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The multiple dwelling  law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
     2  section 85 to read as follows:
     3    §  85. Renewable energy devices. Any construction of a multiple dwell-
     4  ing commenced on or after  January  first,  two  thousand  twenty  shall
     5  include  a  renewable  energy  device which either generates or saves on
     6  average one hundred kilowatt-hours per month per dwelling  unit  includ-
     7  ing,  but not limited to, geothermal heating and cooling systems, geoth-
     8  ermal power generation, and solar capture systems.
     9    § 2. The multiple residence law is amended by adding a new section 175
    10  to read as follows:
    11    § 175. Renewable energy devices. Any construction of a multiple dwell-
    12  ing commenced on or after  January  first,  two  thousand  twenty  shall
    13  include  a  renewable  energy  device which either generates or saves on
    14  average one hundred kilowatt-hours per month per dwelling  unit  includ-
    15  ing,  but not limited to, geothermal heating and cooling systems, geoth-
    16  ermal power generation, and solar capture systems.
    17    § 3. Section 378 of the executive law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
    18  subdivision 19 to read as follows:
    19    19.  Any  construction of any building with multiple units for rent or
    20  sale commenced on or after January  first,  two  thousand  twenty  shall
    21  include  a  renewable  energy  device which either generates or saves on
    22  average one hundred kilowatt-hours per month per dwelling  unit  includ-
    23  ing,  but not limited to, geothermal heating and cooling systems, geoth-
    24  ermal power generation, and solar capture systems.
    25    § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
