LIFTON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing Cornell university to enter into memoranda of understanding with state agen- cies to provide services and technical assistance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 5704 of the education law is amended to read as 2 follows: 3 S 5704. Trustees shall make reports; university subject to visitation 4 of regents; SERVICES FOR STATE AGENCIES. 1. The trustees of said 5 university shall make all the reports and perform such other acts as may 6 be necessary to conform to the act of congress, entitled "An act donat- 7 ing public lands to the several states and territories which may provide 8 colleges for the benefit of agriculture and the mechanic arts, " 9 approved July second, eighteen hundred sixty-two. The said university 10 shall be subject to visitation of the regents of the university. 11 2. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, CORNELL 12 UNIVERSITY AS THE LAND GRANT UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK STATE UNDER THE ACT 13 OF CONGRESS OF JULY SECOND, EIGHTEEN HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO IS AUTHORIZED TO 14 ENTER INTO MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING WITH STATE AGENCIES FOR THE 15 PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SERVICES AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RELATED TO ITS 16 LAND GRANT MISSION. 17 S 2.
