STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5409 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 13, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. RAGA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Social Services AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to requiring local social services districts distribute shelter information specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming persons The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 17 of the social services law is amended by adding 2 a new subdivision (m) to read as follows: 3 (m) require all local social services districts to provide information 4 including resources and accommodations for lesbian, gay, bisexual, 5 transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals on their shelter 6 webpage and as a pamphlet provided to intake shelters. Such information 7 shall: 8 (i) specify where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender 9 non-conforming individuals should go if they are looking to be housed in 10 a shelter. 11 (ii) include whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender 12 non-conforming shelter beds are an option in their municipality and, if 13 there are no such shelter beds, the agency shall list resources of near- 14 by non-profits or other lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender 15 non-conforming shelter options within the municipality. 16 § 2.
