RIVERA, ROBINSON, SAYWARD, SCHROEDER, SWEENEY, THIELE, WALKER, WEISENBERG -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to distribution of health care proxy information THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new 2 section 397-c to read as follows: 3 S 397-C. DISTRIBUTION OF HEALTH CARE PROXY INFORMATION. THE DEPARTMENT 4 SHALL DISTRIBUTE, IN LICENSE AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION-RELATED MAILINGS 5 TO STATE RESIDENTS, A HEALTH CARE PROXY FORM AND INSTRUCTIONS AS 6 PREPARED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN COLLAB- 7 ORATION WITH THE COMMISSIONER. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL CONDUCT SUCH MAIL- 8 INGS FOR THE ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR ONCE EVERY FOUR YEARS. THE FIRST MAIL- 9 ING SHALL COMMENCE ON A SCHEDULE TO BE DETERMINED BY THE COMMISSIONER, 10 BUT SHALL COMMENCE NO LATER THAN THE FIRST OF JANUARY, TWO THOUSAND 11 ELEVEN. 12 S 2.
