STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6788 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY May 8, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CUNNINGHAM -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to a free or reduced food plan for certain students enrolled at state and city universities The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 355 of the education law is amended by adding a new 2 subdivision 22 to read as follows: 3 22. The state university trustees shall create a free or reduced meal 4 plan to aid students whose household incomes are below the federal 5 poverty line, students participating in educational opportunity programs 6 under section three hundred fifty-five-d of this article and students 7 receiving federal Pell grants. 8 § 2. Section 6206 of the education law is amended by adding a new 9 subdivision 22 to read as follows: 10 22. The city university trustees shall create a free or reduced meal 11 plan to aid students whose household incomes are below the federal 12 poverty line, students participating in educational opportunity programs 13 under section three hundred fifty-five-d of this chapter and students 14 receiving federal Pell grants. 15 § 3.
