        AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring the division
          of criminal justice services and  the  division  of  state  police  to
          publish  quarterly  reports providing information related to firearms,
          rifles and shotguns used in the commission of crimes in the  state  of
          New York

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section  837-w
     2  to read as follows:
     3    §  837-w.  Reporting  on  firearms,  rifles  and  shotguns used in the
     4  commission of a crime.  1. The division, in conjunction with  the  divi-
     5  sion  of  state police, shall publish quarterly reports on their respec-
     6  tive websites beginning October first,  two  thousand  twenty-one,  with
     7  information related to firearms, rifles and shotguns used in the commis-
     8  sion  of  crimes in the state of New York, including but not limited to,
     9  the county and state of origin of the firearm,  rifle  or  shotgun,  the
    10  county  and  state  where  the  firearm, rifle or shotgun was purchased,
    11  whether the firearm, rifle or shotgun was purchased by  the  perpetrator
    12  of the crime or by another individual, and whether the perpetrator had a
    13  license or permit to possess such firearm, rifle or shotgun.
    14    2.  Each  political  subdivision,  municipality,  commission,  agency,
    15  office, department, board and division in the state, to the  extent  not
    16  inconsistent  with  other  provisions of law, shall cooperate fully with
    17  the division and shall furnish the division with information and assist-
    18  ance as may be required in the performance of its  function  under  this
    19  section.
    20    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
