ZEBROWSKI -- read once and referred to the Committee on Real Property Taxation -- recommitted to the Committee on Real Property Taxation in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to authorize the Congregation Mesifta Beth Shraga to file an application for a real property tax exemption THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the town of Ramapo is hereby authorized to accept from 3 the Congregation Mesifta Beth Shraga an application for exemption from 4 real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real property tax 5 law for the 2007 assessment roll for the parcel owned by the Congre- 6 gation Mesifta Beth Shraga, located in the town of Ramapo at 96 Camp 7 Hill Road in the hamlet of Monsey, otherwise known as section 33.5, 8 block 2, lot 3. If accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it 9 had been received on or before the taxable status date established for 10 such roll. 11 If satisfied that the Congregation Mesifta Beth Shraga would otherwise 12 be entitled to such exemption if it had filed an application for 13 exemption by the appropriate taxable status dates, the assessor of the 14 town of Ramapo may upon approval by the town board of such town, grant 15 exemption from all taxation beginning with the date of acquisition of 16 the property by the Congregation Mesifta Beth Shraga and make appropri- 17 ate correction to the subject roll. If such exemption is granted and if 18 such corporation shall have paid any tax with respect to the subject 19 roll, the governing body or tax department may, in its sole discretion, 20 provide for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel taxes, fines, 21 penalties or interest remaining unpaid. 22 S 2.
