       AN ACT to amend the education law,  in  relation  to  authorizing  nurse
         practitioners  and  physicians  to  issue  non-patient specific orders
         authorizing registered professional  nurses  to  administer  tests  to
         determine the presence of the hepatitis C virus
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section  6909  of  the  education  law  is
    2  amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows:
    3    (E)  ADMINISTERING  TESTS TO DETERMINE THE PRESENCE OF THE HEPATITIS C
    4  VIRUS.
    5    S 2. Subdivision 6 of section 6527 of the education law is amended  by
    6  adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows:
    7    (E)  ADMINISTERING  TESTS TO DETERMINE THE PRESENCE OF THE HEPATITIS C
    8  VIRUS.
    9    S 3. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
   10  have become a law.
