        Introduced  by M. of A. BURDICK -- read once and referred to the Commit-
          tee on Governmental Operations -- committee discharged, bill  amended,
          ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee

        AN  ACT  to amend the executive law, in relation to creating an advisory
          board to the New York state office of the chief disability officer

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  Subdivision  3  of  section  4-b  of the executive law is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph (d) to read as follows:
     3    (d)(i) An office  of  the  chief  disability  officer  advisory  board
     4  consisting  of  state employees, whose number shall be designated by the
     5  governor, is created to review the office of the chief disability  offi-
     6  cer's  operations and make recommendations relating to the office of the
     7  chief disability officer's policies and procedures.
     8    (ii) The governor shall appoint members of  the  advisory  board.  The
     9  members  of  the advisory board shall be state employees from the office
    10  for people with developmental disabilities, the New York state office of
    11  employee relations, the department  of  civil  service,  the  office  of
    12  mental  health,  ACCESS  VR, the New York state commission for the blind
    13  and any representative from other executive agencies or  departments  as
    14  determined by the governor and shall represent a diversity of experience
    15  relevant  to  activities  of the office of the chief disability officer.
    16  All advisory board members shall be current state  employees  and  their
    17  duties on the advisory board shall not come with additional compensation
    18  or other state benefits. Advisory board members shall serve at the plea-
    19  sure of the governor.
    20    (iii) The board shall choose a chair from among its membership.
    21    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
