       Introduced by M. of A. HOOPER -- read once and referred to the Committee
         on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
       AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to maintaining a
         public health facility or for providing health care services
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivision 7 of section 2827-a of the  public  authorities
    2  law is REPEALED and a new subdivision 7 is added to read as follows:
    3    7.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY INCONSISTENT PROVISION OF THIS SECTION TO THE
    4  CONTRARY, A PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION ORGANIZED AND  ESTABLISHED  UNDER
    5  ARTICLE  TEN-C  OF  THIS CHAPTER FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING A PUBLIC
    6  HEALTH FACILITY OR FOR PROVIDING HEALTH CARE SERVICES SHALL NOT HAVE THE
    7  POWER TO FORM OR ORGANIZE A SUBSIDIARY CORPORATION FOR ANY REASON.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
