Senate Resolution No. 170 BY: Senator TEDISCO CONGRATULATING the Saratoga Springs High School Girls Varsity Cross Country Team and Head Coach Art Kranick upon the occasion of capturing the Nike Cross National Championship on Saturday, December 3, 2022 WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the Saratoga Springs High School Girls Varsity Cross Country Team and Head Coach Art Kranick upon the occasion of capturing the Nike Cross National Championship; to the praise and applause of their excited fans, the Blue Streaks won their third Nike Cross National Championship at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, December 3, 2022, with an overall team score of 81 points; and WHEREAS, Prior to their National Title, the Saratoga Springs girls' cross-country team also known as "the Kinetic," won the State Federation Cross Country Team Championship at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York, on Saturday, November 19, 2022; and WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of blue and white, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Blue Streaks throughout their journey as they also won the NYSPHSAA Class A State Championship on November 12, 2022, at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in Verona, New York prior to their amazing post season run at the state, regional and national level; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as cross country, which demands speed and agility, Head Coach Art Kranick and his skilled coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the course; and WHEREAS, Coach Art Kranick and all the outstanding athletes on the Saratoga Springs High School Girls Varsity Cross Country Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate the members of the Saratoga Springs High School Girls Varsity Cross Country Team: Sheridan Wheeler, Emily Bush, Alycia Hart, Heidi Berglund, Natalie Wilding, Anya Belisle and McKinley Wheeler, Head Coach Art Kranick, and Assistant Coaches Linda Kranick, and Dan VanCott on their outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the members of the Saratoga Springs High School Girls Varsity Cross Country Team, the aforementioned Coaches, Athletic Director Nicholas McPartland, Principal Michelle Tsao and Superintendent Dr. Michael Patton.
