Senate Resolution No. 284 BY: Senator GRIFFO COMMENDING Joseph Szewczyk upon the occasion of his retirement after 61 years of distinguished service to Lincoln Davies in Paris Station, New York WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed residents of this noble Empire State; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Joseph Szewczyk upon the occasion of his retirement after 61 years of distinguished service to Lincoln Davies in Paris Station, New York; this momentous occasion was celebrated at the company's Christmas Party at Orchard Hall Restaurant in Sauquoit, New York; and WHEREAS, At the young age of 18, Joseph Szewczyk was hired by Ralph Davies to work at the Lincoln Davies Building Supply Store in Paris Station in 1957; throughout his tenure, he worked in various capacities such as unloading 100-pound bags of coal, changing oil, fixing the lights on the truck, and many other tasks; and WHEREAS, In 1970, Joseph Szewczyk became a full-time truck driver when Ronnie Jones took over the helm of the business; in this role, he enjoyed visiting with customers and his co-workers, and liked to drive through the countryside of Oneida County; and WHEREAS, After his official retirement in December of 2018, Joseph Szewczyk has kept busy by working for his son at his business; and WHEREAS, For the past 61 years, Joseph Szewczyk rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Lincoln Davies; in his capacity as a truck driver, he served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and WHEREAS, During his tenure with Lincoln Davies, Joseph Szewczyk earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Joseph Szewczyk upon the occasion of his retirement after 61 years of distinguished service to Lincoln Davies in Paris Station, New York, and to wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Joseph Szewczyk.
