Senate Resolution No. 2417

        HONORING  Gregg  "Gio" Giannotti upon the occasion
        of being named Italian  American  of  the  Year,  in
        conjunction  with  Italian  American  Day on May 20,
        2024

  WHEREAS, From time to time  this  Legislative  Body  takes  note  of
certain  extraordinary  individuals  it  wishes  to  recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Gregg  "Gio" Giannotti upon the occasion of being named Italian American
of the Year, in conjunction with Italian American Day on Monday, May 20,
2024; and

  WHEREAS, Successful in the sports radio business, Gregg Giannotti is
the co-host of the hit morning drive sports radio program, Boomer & Gio,
on WFAN; also featuring former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason, the  show  blends
sports  talk with general life topics, dominating the ratings as the top
overall morning show in the market; and

  WHEREAS, After graduating from Hofstra University,  Gregg  Giannotti
began  working  at  WFAN in 2005 as an intern, before taking a full-time
position in 2007 as a board  operator;  he  quickly  took  on  producing
responsibilities  and by 2008, he was hosting his own show on the iconic
station; and

  WHEREAS, Rising  through  the  ranks,  Gregg  Giannotti  gained  the
opportunity  to  host  CBS  Radio's  Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan's night in
2010, when the station  launched  a  new  all-sports  radio  station  in
Pittsburgh,  Pennsylvania; six months later, he was promoted to host the
station's morning show; later, he would further establish himself  as  a
prominent  voice in sports broadcasting by hosting a weekend show on CBS
Sports Radio; and

  WHEREAS, Venturing into college sports, Gregg Giannotti served as  a
sideline reporter and pregame host for University of Pittsburgh football
in the 2012 and 2013 seasons; and

  WHEREAS,  Launched  in  January  of  2018,  Boomer & Gio has enjoyed
continued success as the premier sports radio morning show in New  York;
Gregg  Giannotti has used his platform to support a number of charitable
causes, helping to raise money for cystic fibrosis research as  well  as
the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy Seal Museum; and

  WHEREAS,  Residing  in  Sayville, New York, with him throughout have
been his wife, Gina, and his two daughters, Sabrina and Summer,  all  of
whom  feel  privileged  to  be  a  part  of  his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and

  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
individuals  of  such  noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the  citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gregg "Gio" Giannotti upon the occasion  of  being  named  Italian
American  of  the  Year, in conjunction with Italian American Day on May
20, 2024; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Gregg "Gio" Giannotti.
