        CONGRATULATING the Ward Melville Girls Soccer Team
        upon  the  occasion  of  capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA
        Class AAA Championship on November 17, 2024

  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly  sought  after
in  high  school  sports;  this  Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to  congratulate  the
Ward  Melville  High  School  Girls  Soccer  Team  upon  the occasion of
capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class AAA Championship on  Sunday,  November
17,  2024, at SUNY Cortland; to the praise and applause of their excited
fans, the Patriots defeated Arlington  in  a  1-0  victory  to  win  the
Championship; and

  WHEREAS,  Proudly  donning  the  school's  colors of green and gold,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Ward Melville High School Team throughout their journey as
they ended their season with an impressive 20-0-1 overall record; and

  WHEREAS, The end of this season elevated Ward Melville's High School
Girls Soccer Team record to 56-0-7 since the start of the  2022  season;
the  Patriots' 63 consecutive games without a loss is an impressive Long
Island girls' soccer record; and

  WHEREAS, The Ward Melville High School Girls Soccer  Team  continues
to  uphold  a  standard of excellent achievement which is a trademark of
their school; the team has won three consecutive state titles, has set a
Long Island public school record for consecutive games without  a  loss,
and  won county, Long Island, and state championships in 2022, 2023, and
2024; and

  WHEREAS, In a sport such as soccer, which demands athletic  prowess,
speed, strategy, and agility, Coaches John Diehl and Louise Williams and
their  expert  coaching  staff  worked  hard  to hone the skills of this
championship team, teaching these  outstanding  athletes  lessons  which
will prove invaluable both on and off the field; and

  WHEREAS,  Coaches  John  Diehl  and  Louise  Williams  and  all  the
outstanding athletes on the Ward Melville High School Girls Soccer  Team
have   clearly   utilized  dedication,  determination  and  teamwork  in
providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is  a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Ward Melville High School  Girls  Soccer

Cosenza,  Maddie  Costello,  Courtney  Gaine,  Breena   Harrigan,   Kate
Herrnstein,  Rachel  Herrnstein,  Emily  Herrnstein,  Keira  Hunt, Sarah
Jablonsky,  Alexandra  Justiniano,  Ava  Justino,  Moly  Karp, Norihanna
Korzenko, Aliya Leonard,  Ella  Lineberry,  Jayleen  Martorell,  Ireland
McGowan,  Mia  Modica,  Montanna  Nemeth,  Sadie Pitrelli, Kate Ronzoni,
Carolyn Rowe, Adriana Victoriano, Alessandra Victoriano,  Cassidy  Ward,
and  Coaches  John  Diehl  and  Louise  Williams, upon their outstanding
season and historic overall team record; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the members of the Ward Melville High School Girls Soccer
Team and to Coaches John Diehl and Louise Williams.
