        HONORING  the Monticello High School Jazz Ensemble
        upon the occasion of their participation in Music In
        Our Schools Month 2019

  WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central  to  human
expression;  they  are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and  understanding  among  all  peoples
cannot be underestimated; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those musical organizations that have brought entertainment  and
cultural enrichment to the citizens of the great State of New York; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Monticello High School Jazz Ensemble  upon  the  occasion  of  their
participation in Music In Our Schools Month 2019; and

  WHEREAS,  On  Wednesday,  March 20, 2019, the Monticello High School
Jazz Ensemble will participate in Music In  Our  Schools  Month  with  a
performance  in  the  Concourse  of  the Empire State Plaza, Albany, New
York; and

  WHEREAS, The New York State School Music Association  sponsors  this
event  and  has  helped  it  evolve  from  a  New  York State Day into a
month-long national observance; and

  WHEREAS, Talent, dedication and countless  hours  of  practice  have
made Monticello High School Jazz Ensemble the outstanding ensemble it is
today; and

  WHEREAS,  Skillfully  led  by  Andrew  Verdino,  the  members of the
Monticello  High  School  Jazz  Ensemble  work  hard  at   their   music
rehearsals,  classroom  assignments  and  practice sessions, fully aware
that the amount of time and energy they are willing to  expend  directly
affects the quality of their music; and

  WHEREAS,  The Monticello High School Jazz Ensemble, along with their
parents  and  teachers,  can  be  justifiably  proud  of  their  musical
achievements and their participation in Music In Our Schools Month; now,
therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Monticello High School Jazz Ensemble upon the  occasion  of  their
participation in Music In Our Schools Month 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Andrew Verdino, Director,  Monticello  High  School  Jazz
Ensemble.
