SQUADRON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to requiring inspection and regulation of all electric and gas meters that measure usage of any end use customer of electricity or gas services by the public service commission THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 67 of the public service law, as 2 amended by chapter 446 of the laws of 1972, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 1. The commission shall appoint inspectors of electric and gas meters 5 WHICH FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION SHALL MEAN ALL ELECTRIC AND GAS 6 METERS THAT MEASURE USAGE OF ANY END USE CUSTOMER OF ELECTRICITY OR GAS 7 SERVICES whose duty it shall be, when required by the commission, to 8 inspect, examine and ascertain the accuracy of any and all electric and 9 gas meters used or intended to be used for measuring and ascertaining 10 the quantity of electric current or gas furnished for light, heat or 11 power by any person, corporation or municipality to or for the use of 12 any person or corporation, and to inspect, examine and ascertain the 13 accuracy of all apparatus for testing and proving the accuracy of elec- 14 tric and gas meters, and when found to be or made to be correct the 15 inspector shall stamp or mark all such meters and apparatus with some 16 suitable device, which device shall be recorded in the office of the 17 secretary of state. No corporation, person or municipality shall 18 furnish, set or put in use any electric or gas meter the type of which 19 shall not have been approved by the commission. 20 S 2.
