STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2135 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN SENATE January 18, 2023 ___________ Introduced by Sen. LIU -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities 1 AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the placement of school crossing guards The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 14-118 of the administrative code of the city of 2 New York is amended by adding two new subdivisions d and e to read as 3 follows: 4 d. The commissioner shall require at least one school crossing guard 5 to be on each and every corner of every city block that contains a 6 public or private school with students enrolled in any grades between 7 kindergarten through eight during arrival and dismissal times as set 8 forth by the school. 9 e. Any street with four or more traffic lanes that borders a block 10 with a public or private school with students enrolled in any grades 11 between kindergarten through eight shall require an additional school 12 crossing guard and such crossing guards shall be placed on the opposite 13 corners of such street respectively. 14 § 2.
