STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2223 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN SENATE January 20, 2021 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SEPULVEDA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to removing the fee for a sex offender to make a change to his or her registration with the division of criminal justice services The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 168-f of the correction law, as 2 amended by chapter 67 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 4. Any sex offender shall register with the division no later than ten 5 calendar days after any change of address, internet accounts with inter- 6 net access providers belonging to such offender, internet identifiers 7 that such offender uses, or his or her status of enrollment, attendance, 8 employment or residence at any institution of higher education. [A fee9of ten dollars, as authorized by subdivision eight of section one10hundred sixty-eight-b of this article, shall be submitted by the sex11offender each time such offender registers any change of address or any12change of his or her status of enrollment, attendance, employment or13residence at any institution of higher education. Any failure or omis-14sion to submit the required fee shall not affect the acceptance by the15division of the change of address or change of status.] No fee shall be 16 collected from a sex offender in order to change his or her address, or 17 any change to his or her status of enrollment, attendance, employment or 18 residence at any institution of higher education. 19 § 2.
