Bill Title: Provides that any student who participates in athletic programs at any school and who is a member of the National Guard, Reserve Officers' Training Camps (ROTC) or any other military training during the time period in which other students practice such athletic programs, shall be exempt from ten days of practice and shall be permitted to participate in such athletic programs and sporting events.

         printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
       AN ACT to amend the education law,  in  relation  to  exempting  certain
         students  enrolled in athletic programs from certain practice require-
         ments
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 3208-b
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  3208-B. ATHLETIC PROGRAMS; ATTENDANCE. ANY STUDENT WHO PARTICIPATES
    4  IN ATHLETIC PROGRAMS AT ANY SCHOOL AND WHO IS A MEMBER OF  THE  NATIONAL
    5  GUARD,  RESERVE  OFFICERS'  TRAINING  CORPS (ROTC) OR ANY OTHER MILITARY
    6  TRAINING DURING THE TIME PERIOD IN WHICH OTHER  STUDENTS  PRACTICE  SUCH
    7  ATHLETIC  PROGRAMS,  SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM TEN DAYS OF PRACTICE AND SHALL
    8  BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE  IN  SUCH  ATHLETIC  PROGRAMS  AND  SPORTING
    9  EVENTS.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
