STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2699 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE January 29, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. BAILEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to signatures for certain party positions; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 6-136 of the election law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 3 4. Notwithstanding subdivision two of this section, for any party 4 position of member of the ward, town, city or county committee, such 5 petitions must be signed by not less than three per centum of the then 6 enrolled voters of the party residing within the election district for 7 which such position is to be voted (excluding voters in inactive 8 status). 9 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire December 10 31, 2020 when upon such date the provisions of this act shall be deemed 11 repealed.
