AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to expanding the
definition of "employee" for the purposes of defense and indemnifica-
tion of certain nonjudicial employees
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 17 of the public officers law is
2 amended by adding a new paragraph (w) to read as follows:
3 (W) FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, THE TERM "EMPLOYEE" SHALL INCLUDE A
4 PERSON CERTIFIED BY THE OFFICE OF COURT ADMINISTRATION AND PAID BY THE
5 CITY OF NEW YORK TO SERVE AS A GUARDIAN AD LITEM IN AN ACTION OR
6 PROCEEDING PENDING IN THE HOUSING PART OF THE CIVIL COURT OF THE CITY OF
7 NEW YORK.
8 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
