          printed to be committed to the Committee on Commerce, Economic  Devel-
          opment and Small Business

        AN  ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to local hiring
          for certain projects

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  The  public  authorities  law  is amended by adding a new
     2  section 1834-a to read as follows:
     3    § 1834-a. Local hiring. Any entity receiving state funding pursuant to
     4  a contractual agreement with the state or pursuant  to  any  chapter  of
     5  law,  shall  give preference in hiring employees for the completion of a
     6  project or projects with  an  anticipated  cost  exceeding  one  million
     7  dollars and undertaken pursuant to such contractual agreement or chapter
     8  of law who shall reside within a ten mile radius of the location of such
     9  project or projects.
    10    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    11  have become a law.
