HASSELL-THOMPSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to limiting co-pay- ments for child care funded by block grants to ten percent of house- hold income THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 6 of section 410-x of the social services law, 2 as added by section 52 of part B of chapter 436 of the laws of 1997, is 3 amended to read as follows: 4 6. Pursuant to department regulations, child care assistance shall be 5 provided on a sliding fee basis based upon the family's ability to pay. 6 CO-PAYMENTS SHALL NOT EXCEED TEN PERCENT OF A FAMILY'S HOUSEHOLD INCOME. 7 S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after 8 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately the commissioner of 9 children and family services is authorized to promulgate any and all 10 rules and regulations and take any other measures necessary to implement 11 this act on its effective date on or before such date.
