        Introduced  by  Sen.  AVELLA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor
        AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to authorizing  the  city  of
          New York to implement a minimum wage
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 652 of the labor law is amended  by  adding  a  new
     2  subdivision 1-a to read as follows:
     3    1-a.  The  city  council shall implement a minimum wage for solely the
     4  city of New York which shall be no less than the minimum  wage  pursuant
     5  to subparagraph (i) of paragraph (a) of subdivision one of this section.
     6    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
     7  it shall have become a law.
