STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5586 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE May 8, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. CARLUCCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT in relation to authorizing Bais Trany of Monsey, Inc. to file an application for certain real property tax exemptions The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the town of Ramapo is hereby authorized to accept from 3 Bais Trany of Monsey, Inc., an application for exemption from real prop- 4 erty taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real property tax law for a 5 portion of the 2016-2017 school tax roll and the 2016 general tax roll, 6 for a parcel owned by such organization located in the hamlet of Monsey 7 in the town of Ramapo located at 110 College Road, otherwise known as 8 Rockland county tax map section 49.14, block 1, lot 70. If accepted, 9 such application shall be reviewed as if it had been received on or 10 before the taxable status dates established for such rolls. 11 If satisfied that such school would otherwise be entitled to such 12 exemption if such school had filed an application for exemption by the 13 appropriate taxable status dates, the assessor, upon approval of the 14 town board of Ramapo, may grant exemption from all taxation and make 15 appropriate corrections to the subject rolls. If such exemption is 16 granted and such school therefor shall have paid any tax with respect to 17 the subject rolls, the governing body or tax department may, in its sole 18 discretion, provide for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel any 19 taxes, fines, penalties, interest or tax liens remaining unpaid. 20 § 2.
