STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6443 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN SENATE May 19, 2017 ___________ Introduced by Sen. PERSAUD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increasing fines for individuals who fail to comply with a stop work order The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 28-207.2.6 of the administrative code of the city 2 of New York, as amended by section 47 of part A of local law number 141 3 of the city of New York for the year 2013, is amended to read as 4 follows: 5 § 28-207.2.6 Penalties. In addition to the penalties provided for in 6 this chapter, any person who fails to comply with a stop work order 7 shall be liable for a civil penalty in the amount of [five] ten thousand 8 dollars for the initial violation and [ten] twenty thousand dollars for 9 every subsequent violation, to be paid to the department prior to the 10 rescission of the stop work order; provided, however, this shall not 11 apply to any work performed to remedy an unsafe or hazardous condition 12 as authorized by order of the commissioner. 13 § 2.
