STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6643 IN SENATE February 2, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. ORTT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating physicians employed by a municipal police department while deployed with the special weapons and tactics team, as peace officers The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 84 to read as follows: 3 84. A licensed physician employed by a municipal police department, 4 while deployed with the special weapons and tactics team, and when 5 performing their duties; provided, however, that nothing in this subdi- 6 vision shall be deemed to authorize such officer to carry, possess, 7 repair or dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate license therefor 8 has been issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal law. 9 § 2.
