STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8566 IN SENATE February 15, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MATTERA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT directing the New York state energy research and development authority to conduct a feasibility study on geothermal energy The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The New York state energy research and development authori- 2 ty, in conjunction with the department of environmental conservation, 3 shall conduct a feasibility study and prepare a report on the benefits 4 and implementation of geothermal energy. Such study will analyze the 5 potential impacts and costs of geothermal energy. 6 § 2. Within one year of the effective date of this act, the New York 7 state energy research and development authority shall issue a report of 8 the findings of the feasibility study to the governor, the temporary 9 president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly. 10 § 3.
