STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8733 IN SENATE April 5, 2022 ___________ Introduced by Sen. BOYLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT in relation to authorizing the assessor of the town of Islip, county of Suffolk, to accept from the Iglesia Del Dios Vivo Col y Apoyo Dela Verdad La Luz Mundo an application for exemption from real property taxes The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the town of Islip, county of Suffolk, is hereby author- 3 ized to accept from the Iglesia Del Dios Vivo Col y Apoyo Dela Verdad La 4 Luz Mundo an application for exemption from real property taxes pursuant 5 to section 420-a of the real property tax law, with respect to the 6 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 assessment rolls for the parcel 7 owned by such organization, with such parcel being located at 69 Candle- 8 wood Road, in the hamlet of Bay Shore, in the town of Islip, county of 9 Suffolk, otherwise known as Suffolk county tax map number 10 0500-181.00-01.00-099.001. If accepted, the application shall be 11 reviewed as if it had been received on or before the taxable status date 12 established for such rolls. 13 If satisfied that such organization would otherwise be entitled to 14 such exemption if such organization had filed an application for 15 exemption by the appropriate taxable status date, the assessor, upon 16 approval by the town board of Islip, may make appropriate correction to 17 the subject rolls. If such exemption is granted and such organization, 18 therefore, shall have paid any tax with respect to the subject rolls, 19 the applicable governing body or tax department may, in its sole 20 discretion, provide for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel those 21 taxes, fines, penalties, liens or interest remaining unpaid. 22 § 2.
