  Requires reclassification of class of positions in classified
service by Oregon Department of Administrative Services to be
approved by Legislative Assembly by law.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to reclassification of state employees; creating new
  provisions; and amending ORS 240.217.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + ORS 240.217 is added to and made a part of ORS
chapter 240. + }
  SECTION 2. ORS 240.217 is amended to read:
  240.217.  { + (1) + } Whenever class specifications for a class
of positions in the classified service are changed to reflect
revised or added responsibilities that require either the same
level or a higher level of competence, such change will not
result in a downward reclassification of the class.
   { +  (2) If the Oregon Department of Administrative Services
reclassifies a class of positions in the classified service, the
reclassification must be approved by the Legislative Assembly by
law. + }
