A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR NANCY SCHEIDER, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CHANCELLOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA BEAUFORT, ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, TO THANK HER FOR HER SEVENTEEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, for seventeen years, Nancy Scheider carried out her duties as a South Carolina state government employee with poise and excellence, most recently as executive assistant to the present chancellor of the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB); and
Whereas, born in Savannah, Georgia, the young Nancy moved with her family to Beaufort County, where she attended Bluffton High School and graduated with a class of nine students, including herself. In furtherance of her education, she earned her bachelor's degree at Columbia College and received her master's degree in library science from Clemson; and
Whereas, during her career at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, which began in April 2001, Nancy served as the assistant to two university chancellors, Dr. Jane T. Upshaw and Dr. Al M. Panu. Officially, Nancy brought her career to a conclusion on March 15, 2018, but she continued working for the university until December 4, 2018. On that day, she commenced what her colleagues, friends, and family have no doubt will prove a fruitful retirement; and
Whereas, her former co-workers will tell you Nancy has a sense of humor, as exemplified by a comment she was fond of making in the office: "I don't like being bossy; I'm just good at it!" Delivered, of course, tongue firmly in cheek; and
Whereas, as a woman of faith, Nancy Scheider worships at Church of the Cross. In her family circle, she takes pleasure in the company of daughter Whitney, who recently married, and her two brothers, James P. Scheider and William B. Scheider. She is extremely devoted to her family, which has an incredibly rich history in Beaufort County; and
Whereas, Nancy is an avid college football and basketball fan and especially follows the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and University of North Carolina Tarheels. You also will find her at local high school football games on Friday nights; and
Whereas, during Nancy's well-earned retirement, she looks forward to joining the Sun City Chorus, participating in community theatre, maybe even dancing again, and, needless to say, watching college football and basketball. A lifelong learner, Nancy will continue to be devoted to her Bible studies and Church of the Cross community; and
Whereas, grateful for her many years of committed, excellent service to the people of South Carolina, particularly those who work and study at USCB, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in extending best wishes to Nancy Scheider as she transitions to retirement. The members trust she will find an abundance of enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Nancy Scheider, executive assistant to the chancellor of the University of South Carolina Beaufort, on the occasion of her retirement, thank her for her seventeen years of outstanding and dedicated service to the State of South Carolina, and wish her much success and fulfillment in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Nancy Scheider.
