Whereas, born on February 6, 1935, Mr. Jamison has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, the son of the late Wilbur and Rosa Noble Jamison, he was reared in a large family as one of ten children. Mr. Jamison received his early education at St. Luke School where he loved to play baseball; and

Whereas, a man of great faith, Mr. Jamison joined St. Mark Baptist Church at a young age and continued his membership and service to the church, even serving as the past chairman of the Deacon Board; and

Whereas, on October 2, 1954, Robert married Helen McFadden Jamison. The Lord blessed their union with nine ten-pound babies and seven of those children lived to be adults: Eartha, Gearl, Vernell, Earnest, Priscilla, Aorline, and Anthony; and

He went on to work for the SC Highway Department in Orangeburg during a tumultuous time in our State and our country. In 1968, an event that came to be known as the Orangeburg Massacre occurred on the campus of South Carolina State College and Mr. Jamison and his fellow coworkers were among those dispatched to clean up the streets in front of the college campus. A few years later, he landed his dream job with Carolina Eastman where he was employed for twenty years until his early retirement. After realizing he had too much time on his hands, he opened Jamison Heating and Air Conditioning where he worked for fifteen years until his health began to decline; and
