A house RESOLUTION
to honor Reverend Dr. M. Keith McDaniel Sr. pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Spartanburg, and to congratulate him for fifteen years of meaningful ministry and service to the congregation.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Reverend Keith McDaniel will celebrate fifteen years of ministry to the congregation of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; and
Whereas, a native of Winston Salem, North Carolina, he was born to Reverend Silas and Branelsia Kay Hart; and
Whereas, Dr. McDaniel is an honor graduate of Shaw University where he majored in religion and philosophy and minored in business management. He continued graduate and post graduate studies at Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina, and at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, receiving a master of divinity degree and a doctor of ministry degree, respectively. In 2007, Pastor McDaniel was invited to Harvard University to participate in a program that focused on economic development and community revitalization; and
Whereas, Reverend McDaniel is known as a passionate preacher and teacher at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He is often described as relevant, uplifting, and innovative. His ministry distinctively promotes reconciliation and redemption in such a way that lives are transformed by the power and mercy found in God's word: and
Whereas, his ministry extends beyond the pulpit, he serves as adjunct professor of African American Culture and Religious Studies at USC Upstate and he is an author of three books. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and has served on numerous nonprofit boards including The United Way of the Piedmont, The Spartanburg Village Network, and Urban League of the Upstate; and
Whereas, in 2014, the Epilson Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. recognized Dr. McDaniel's work in the community by awarding him the "Man of the Year" award, and in 2022, they also awarded him "Citizen of the Year" award; and
Whereas, Reverend McDaniel is married to Latron McDaniel. He is blessed to be the father of four beautiful children: Marceo Keith Jr., Madison, Savion, and Kensley and is further blessed to be proud "Pop-Pop" to Greyson; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is honored to recognize someone as dedicated to his faith and community as Reverend McDaniel. The members thank him for his contributions and wish him continued happiness in his ongoing, steadfast ministry. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Reverend Dr. M. Keith McDaniel Sr. pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Spartanburg, and congratulate him for fifteen years of meaningful ministry and service to the congregation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Dr. M. Keith McDaniel Sr.
