A house RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor Jace Palmer of Newberry for his extraordinary intelligence and love of learning which have given him membership in Mensa and to wish him success in his academic pursuits and beyond.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Jace Palmer, a student at Boundary Street Elementary School in Newberry County, was admitted to membership of Mensa in 2024; and
Whereas, Mensa is an international society of people who have a high intelligence quotient (IQ). Mensa has more than one hundred fifty thousand members globally and currently one hundred sixty-four members in central South Carolina and the eastern counties of Georgia; and
Whereas, Jace loves to learn new things, from learning about short circuit boards to geography to botany, and his teacher sometimes feels that he could teach the class; and
Whereas, his parents realize that children like Jace can grow up and change the world, but want him to have the life experiences common to children and not to grow up too fast; and
Whereas, Jace's fascination with learning was evident early on, but it was only after he was tested in December 2023 that his parents realized how smart he really is; and
Whereas, Jace says that he wants to be a doctor because he wants people to stay healthy and take care of the earth. For now, however, Jace is fascinated with botany, and his favorite is the aloe vera plant because of its healing properties; and
Whereas, realizing the importance for Jace to be surrounded by other intelligent individuals, his parents believe that staying in school is most important for Jace, who wants to stay locally in Newberry when he finishes high school and attend Newberry College; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful to have such talented children in the Palmetto State as Jace Palmer, and they hope that his school years in the State will be beneficial for him, for his future, and for the future of others. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Jace Palmer of Newberry for his extraordinary intelligence and love of learning which have given him membership in Mensa and wish him success in his academic pursuits and beyond.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jace Palmer.
