A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE LOIS RHODES OF THE ABBEVILLE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM FOR RECEIVING THE FRIENDS OF SOUTH CAROLINA LIBRARIES (FOSCL) PUBLIC LIBRARY EMPLOYEE EXCELLENCE AWARD AND TO COMMEND HER FOR HER TREMENDOUS SERVICE AS A LIBRARY SERVICES COORDINATOR.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Lois Rhodes for receiving the Friends of South Carolina Libraries (FOSCL) Public Library Employee Excellence Award; and

Whereas, the Public Library Employee Excellence Award recognizes public library personnel who are critical to library services and without whom South Carolina's public libraries would be substantially diminished. The award recognizes excellence in job performance in at least one of the following provided criteria: exemplary performance both in the employee's own responsibilities as well as service beyond assigned duties; establishing a record of significant achievement sustained over a period of time; continuous leadership in the conduct or improvement of library programs, services, or operations; contributing to positive patron relations by offering helpful and friendly assistance, which can serve as a model for other employees; and providing innovating or creative ideas that have improved the efficiency or effectiveness of a library unit or service; and

Whereas, Lois Rhodes, who began her service with the library system in 2005 as a part-time employee, has been the epitome of an excellent library system employee. Promoted three times during her tenure with the library system, she spent time as a full-time branch manager and a support services coordinator before she achieved her current position as library services coordinator; and

Whereas, a diligent employee who takes careful consideration of patron requests and needs, Lois also manages to balance the concerns of her coworkers while taking on new responsibilities. An aspiration for others to follow, she's quick to learn new skills and adapt herself to fulfill needs, even when her workplace rapidly evolves to meet outside considerations; and

Whereas, known for her readiness to contribute each and every day, the Abbeville County Library System is a more successful organization because of her many contributions. Whether that means she needs to spend time one-on-one with a patron, or step in to act as interim director in a time of need, her careful and thoughtful decision making, along with her enthusiasm for her workplace, make her the model for what a library employee can be and what they can contribute; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to recognize individuals, like Lois Rhodes, who contribute tremendous public service within their communities. Her dedication, diligence, and passion to achieve positive results, regardless of the size of the task at hand, are an inspiration to which each of us in the Palmetto State can aspire. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Lois Rhodes of the Abbeville County Library System for receiving the Friends of South Carolina Libraries (FOSCL) Public Library Employee Excellence Award and commend her for her tremendous service as a library services coordinator.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lois Rhodes.
